If your Astra (H) or Zafira (B) has the engine management light on, you can read the fault codes without any diagnostic equipment by following the procedure in this video. This method is actually better than using most generic fault code readers as they will only give you a 4 digit code. This method gives a 6 digit code, the first 4 digits are the generic part, with extra information conveyed in the last 2 digits. This can result in more accurate fault diagnosis:
